Gross margin of 900%! "Toys for Adults" Mini Fitness Trampoline trending on TikTok US! | EchoTik Product Insight

· Total GMV in the last week reached $ 98.4 million, a 21.81% increase from the previous week, with a daily average of $14.1 million orders

· The GMV Top 5 categories of last week, in order, were: Beauty & Personal Care, Womenswear, Collectibles, Sports & Outdoors, and Phones & Electronics;

· The Sports & Outdoors category saw the fastest growth in GMV and sales last week, overtaking mobile phones and electronics to rank Top 4 for the week. The average price of promoted products in this category was $42.7; the main hot-selling items included affordable women's sports apparel, equipment, and small home exercise equipment, such as yoga pants, hoodies, waist protectors, step machines, and mini trampolines.


Sports, weight loss, and fitness are always globally popular topics. In China, following the New Year's release of a popular movie and the actress’s remarkable feat of losing 100 pounds, her story has surged to the top of Douyin's hot search. Many fitness influencers have analyzed Jia Ling's secrets to slimming down and gaining muscle, triggering the passion of many to lose weight for the New Year.

On TikTok, many influencers share their fitness routines, and many users have set their self-discipline and weight loss goals for 2024. This demand has led to the popularity of sports-related products on TikTok Shop.

 

However, for most people with limited willpower, overcoming laziness and willingly to keep exercising day after day is challenging. Therefore, many users are looking for time-efficient, less labor-intensive, and more entertaining ways to exercise to meet their weight loss and fitness needs.

 

This week, EchoTik data revealed that another compact, lightweight, and easy-to-store home fitness "toy" has seen a rapid surge in sales on TikTok Shop US, and as of today, sales are still on the rise. It is the "Mini Trampoline."

 

Since its launch on February 12, 2024, this product has had over 5,000 sales, with a unit price of around $141, estimating a GMV of over $646,000. In the last 30 days alone, it made 811 sales, estimating close to $100,000 in GMV, with sales still increasing.

 

In 1688, the average price of a similar mini trampoline ranges from 100 to 150 RMB. Compared to TikTok's $135 unit price, the gross margin is close to 900%!



Users can perform various exercises on the trampoline including jumping, high knees, and squats, with an included handle to help maintain balance and prevent injury. According to product descriptions and reviews, this mini trampoline offers many benefits for home fitness enthusiasts: not only is it compact, lightweight, easy to install, and store, but it also doesn't produce annoying noise during use, avoiding disturbance to family and neighbors.

 

Due to its inherent elasticity, especially for those with larger body weights, the trampoline can help reduce the impact on the knees from intense exercise, making it extremely popular on TikTok. Searching for "rebounding workout" on TikTok reveals many fitness influencers sharing exercises using the mini trampoline while playing upbeat popular music, these activities attract a large following.


The product is sold by the local shop Fitnessathome, which has entered and operated on TikTok US since last October, mainly selling home exercise equipment, with close to 70,000 sales and an estimated GMV of $4.56 million.

 

In addition to the recently popular mini trampoline, the shop's best-selling products include home treadmills, dumbbell sets, rowing machines, and under-desk pedal exercisers, with prices ranging from $38.99 to $604.99 and an average price of $172.48.

The shop primarily relies on mainstream short video influencers for marketing but is also actively establishing live streaming: 662 influencers producing over 2,000 promotional videos, totaling 39.5 million exposures; 97 live streams, with an average sales of $540 per session.

 

The influencers are mainly young women, primarily in the Beauty & Personal Care and Womenswear categories. Women with fitness and weight loss needs, especially those with larger body sizes, show better conversion rates. They need to pay more attention to joint protection during fitness, making them more persuasive when promoting the mini trampoline.

 


influencer @Alischneider, with only 225,000 followers, had good results from the mini trampoline promoting videos. In a video about 1.5 minutes long, she introduced several common exercises for the mini trampoline, estimating to create a GMV of $2,320. Through videos from mid to low-tier influencers, the mini trampoline has seen a significant increase in sales in a short period.


In the post-pandemic era, the global fitness industry faces two new opportunities: the rising awareness of personal health and disposable income, highlighting the importance of regular exercise for overall health, and the fast-paced urban lifestyle with fragmented leisure time, leading more people to choose home fitness as a supplement to outdoor activities.

 

According to Statista, the global fitness equipment market was projected to be $16.4 billion in 2022, with an expected annual compound growth rate (CAGR) of 5.3% from 2023 to 2030. Thus, products related to home fitness are possibly the next big hit.
